Everything on the annual Christmas train was nice enough, including the volunteers; but the train was 45 minutes late departing and arriving both ways. Makes for a VERY long day. A bit disappointed in that.

Nice ride for young kids that still love Santa. We booked coach tickets and contrary to earlier reviews, cookies and hot chocolate are provided in the first half of the ride. The conductors now punch your golden ticket. Santa personally visits each child and does pose for pictures.

We rode on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad in the middle of October for the Fall Foliage trip. We reserved our tickets ahead of time, so we just had to pick them up at the office. Note, the Amtrak ticket office is NOT where to pick up the Adirondack Railroad tickets. They have their own ticket office at the other end... More

Spent 80.00 for two adult tickets. Arrived 1/2 hr early, went to office to get tickets. Won't go into the office disaster, not my place of work, but man, clean a little. Boarded the train, walked through one car. Old outdated car with wait you couldn't see out the windows, why? Because of the dirt, condensation inside the windows. See... More

Excellent friendly service. The trip up o the old forge was a chance to leaf peep in comfort. The beverages served on the train were reasonably priced and the volunteer staff did a great job. Well worth the reasonable cost

This was an excellent way to see the beauty of Fall in the Adirondack Region - without the risk of driving off the road while taking it in. If you're traveling with someone with mobility impairments, you should call ahead to make sure the stops you may be planning are accessible. Not all of the stopovers are, so it's best... More

I booked the Thendara Foliage day trip for myself and 3 friends back in August. We went yesterday 10/14..Unfortunately it was a rainy morning and the trip up to Thendara was not pleasant..apparently the rain and leaves on the tracks made it difficult for the train to get traction and the rail company was not prepared to handle this problem..which... I bought 3 first class tickets for the Wine and Beer train. This was a gift for my mother's 70th birthday. The appetizers were wonderful and plentiful and the wine was reasonably priced. The staff was also wonderful. However there was a party of women who became drunk along the way. They were loud, obnoxious with extremely foul language. If... More

Phenomenal trip! The staff was friendly and knowledgable, and by the end of the day's journey, the whole train became friends! The organization linked to getting us to Old Forge was seamless---I am committed to making the Adirondack Scenic Railroad---and the Adirondacks themselves---part of future trips!!!

The railroad trip was a fantastic fall trip we took with a group of friends. The fall foliage made the trip even more beautiful. Just the experience of riding a train through the mountains was great. We were able to walk out on to an open box car or the rear train car and watch the scenery go by. The... More
