Overlooking the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York, is Lyndhurst, one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions. Designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, its architectural brilliance is complemented by the park-like landscape of the estate and a comprehensive collection of original decorative arts. Its noteworthy occupants included: former New York City mayor William Paulding, merchant George Merritt, and railroad tycoon Jay Gould. Lyndhurst is a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

My wife and I, and the couple with us, loved our tour of Lyndhurst. The house is beautiful, and our guide was terrific in explaining the history of the house and its owners.

My last visit was for a car show on the gorgeous grounds of Lyndhurst. Beautiful excellently manicured ground, picturesque and worth the visit or tour.

Friendly staff. I went for the Christmas Carol event around Christmas. It was a pleasant relief that story telling can still be fun and exciting. I recommend attending an event. They also have nice auto shows.

I believe that you can. there are 2 separate fees for the property. one is a grounds admission, which gets credited towards the house tour, if you take it.
