This has to be one of the nicest open ocean beaches within easy access of Manhattan. It is machine groomed and patrolled, so it is clean and safe. Yet there is enough beachcombing to do that any mid-western kid can learn about clams and whelks...More

This is a good place to get away from the big masses of people. You can relax on the beach, rent a bike or grab some food.

Nice place to visit on a weekend or during the sunny day. I enjoyed the walk with the views of the ocean, the bridge and the NY skyline very much.

The dolphins fountain when you pull in is gourgous. The boardwalk is very clean and a delightful place to sit and watch the waves crashing or even the sunset or rise. A very relaxing place to visit.

You'll enjoy watching the sun set as you hear the beach waves crashing. You can also visit a concession stand for some food, drinks or treats. Bathrooms were actually quite clean as well. Love coming in the summer when they have fireworks too!

It is easy however it may take about 25-35 minutes to get to the boardwalk. You'll need to take bus S51 or S52 from the St George Ferry Terminal to one of the bus stops alongside the boardwalk.
