An impressive entrance through wrought iron gates and onward to the parking lot on the right. There are tours within the mansion. Take a walk down to the Hudson River, veer to the left via the paved, to stone, to dirt paths, and follow the hiking trails through the woods. There are abandoned structures, that once housed the stables, the... More

If you live nearby or just want to visit you won't regret a visit to the Mills Norrie State Park. A stunning throwback to the age of Downton Abbey, this beautiful mansion sits high on a hill overlooking the Hudson River. Park your car and and venture out for a walk on any one of a wide range of trails... More

We went on a bus trip to this Mills Mansion or Staatsburgh Mansion in Staatsburgh, NY, it was great, I like history and this is one is an great mansion with a lot of history. For a place that was used for 2 months a year it still looks great. The guide that took around was great she knew a... More

We have been to almost all of the Hudson Valley mansions but had never really heard of the Mills Mansion until we stumbled across it a few weeks ago. The house is beautifully and authentically decorated and the docent we had was very knowledgeable and personable. We thought it was more impressive than the more ostentatious but less impressive Vanderbilt... More

History of the home: Originally built in 1832 and greatly expanded in the 1890’s, Mills Mansion (also known as Staatsburgh) is an example of the great country estates built in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries built by America’s wealthiest families. Staatsburgh is a New York State Historic Site located within the boundaries of Mills-Norrie State Park. It is an... More

One of several large and ornate mansions along the Hudson in Dutchess County, but one of the more interesting family histories is told in this house. Our tour guide was truly thrilled to lead a small group through a house she loved and to be able to relate the ins and outs of the family that spent parts of the... More

I may be impartial because I live 5 minutes away, but I can never get enough of this place. History (the mansion with tours), Hudson river, sandy river beach (when tide is out), variety of hiking trails (carriage roads, narrow wooded paths and river rock ledge trails with gorgeous river views.

We walked the river edge trail, it was pretty poorly kept, and we got peek-a-boo views of the river...but the mansion was interesting (not in the best shape) but the young woman who gave us the tour was VERY knowledgeable and answered our every question!
