As a resident, I have enjoyed this walk for years. When our children were young, it was a walk we could all do. Even in winter when you are desperate to get out, this is perfect. I recently walked the trail on a sunny fall day and was in awe, even though I have walked it countless times.

We enjoyed this trail after visiting the Last Shot. It's a very short, very flat path that follows a little creek. Lots of stone walls and ruins of buildings past. Don't need special gear, shoes, or be in shape! It's a great little side trip if you have less than an hour to kill.

Enjoyable, relaxing, well-maintained, easy walking. The best parts are the ruins of the mills and places where the water was channeled or damed up. Keep your eyes open for these things on both sides of your walk. Take the small "detour" to the Last Shot Distillery. You will have an enjoyable fun time tasting whiskeys and bourbon distilled in the... More

It was a little tricky to find, but we're glad we did. It is a walk/stroll, not a hike, but really enjoyable. I highly recommend you do the web-based guide that is advertised on the path - it made the walk so much more interesting. Whether you park there or not, at the north end of the trail be sure... If you'd like a meandering walk in the woods with the sounds of a babbling brook with small waterfalls, try this one. It is full of history along the way, as some of the ruins of past mills powered by the water of the Skaneateles Creek can be seen off the path. Very relaxing--no motorized vehicles are permitted. Great easy... More

Nice, easy walk along a wide, well-groomed trail. You can park at either end. Explore the short turn-offs that take you to water. Look for the "relic" stump (locals we ran into told us about it) - in front of a bench at one of the turn-offs - where hikers place pieces of metal (from the old railroad tracks and/or... More

The trail goes along an old railroad track. It is flat, with a few side trails to the water. This was an old milling area. It is quiet, easy, and about 9/10 of a mile.

We walk two miles every day and prefer relatively flat terrains. This trail was perfect for us. It is 1.6 miles (round trip) - we back-tracked to make the hike at least two miles. The setting is beautiful, walking on a nice shaded track along a creek with interesting ruins to see. We needed GPS to find it - the... More

The trail is well cared for and the old mills are beautiful in their own right. We really enjoy the walk or bike ride and so does the dog! You can now access the new distillery from the path as well.

The Charlie Major trail is beautiful. The path is wide and graveled and well maintained. It can be hiked or biked. The path is tree lined, shady, and there is a clear, clean stream running through it. It is two miles round trip. It takes you on a quick journey through the past when water power was used to run...
