Three generations of Derings are revealed in the Custom House. Dering conducted customs business while raising nine children in this house. The building was saved from demolition in 1948 by the late Governor Charles Edison of New Jersey who summered in Sag Harbor.

Excellent historical home with a guided tour only. Guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job describing life 250 years ago and the implements of the time. Well worth a visit.
