The exhibit was wonderful. There was a docent whose perfume ruined the experience, for those of us with allergies.my other complaint was that the informational plaques were after you already looked at the picture.

I visited the gallery for the first time in years to see the M.C. Escher exhibit. The museum is on beautiful property in the Neighborhood of the Arts (appropriately named). The museum itself is a beautiful facility that greets you with nice fountains and a...More

The Memorial Art Gallery is well worth your visit. We were here to visit the Escher exhibit. There was so much to take in, that we plan to return for another visit.

We stopped in specifically to see the Escher exhibit, and it didn't disappoint! Other than that, pretty typical of what you see in other museums.

There permanent collection was great and varied but the highlight was a large exhibition of work by Escher. Loved Boom Town by Benton also.

I was very happily surprised. This is a beautiful museum with a beautiful and varied collection. I would refer to it as a mini Metropolitan Museum of art.

This is a wonderful museum with very significant works and artists. Quite a large collection displayed in the open. No glass to obscure and no ropes to keep you at a distance. You can really look closely at the works. They even supplied magnifying glasses...More

MAG-Rochester
Hi TPK31- I work at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester NY and your note is certainly understood. We are just finishing up a series of renovations to our Forman, Hawks and Wilson Galleries on the first floor. We now have works on view that include Calder (1935), McElheny (2014), and Nevelson (1975) as well as Sargent (1896) and Cave (2014). The museum's permanent collection of more than 12,000 objects has been called the best balanced in the state outside of metropolitan New York City. We cover more than 5,000 years of world class art history. I hope that you can revisit soon to see these updates. Drop me a line if you have further questions. Best - Meg @ MAG

Dear Meg@MAG, This query might have come to me by mistake since TPK31 is not my handle. I'm a great fan of MAG, and when I reviewed it on Tripadvisor I gave it all the high marks it deserves. Good work, MAG. Frank
