What a wonderful way to experience this piece of history! The boat was full but this part of the fun. The guide and his assistant were great and we enjoyed hearing about the history.

If you are looking to learn some history of this NY waterway and enjoy a 90-minute ride down a lovely waterway, at a reasonable price, this is a great way to spend an afternoon. We had lunch first and arrived early as recommended for a...More

This is one of my favorite things to do with guests from out of town. I grew up in northern Virginia and learned the Erie Canal song, but until I moved here, I had no idea how incredible it was. It is great to learn...More

It's a nice leisurely ride along the canal. The opening of Lock 32 was interesting. The location, from where the boat ride starts, is very pictersque. It has a few restaurants and a Gelato/coffee place.

There are Erie Canal boat tours available in several locales but this one in Pittsford is unique in that the boat is a replica of an authentic Packet Boat, the primary mode of passenger transportation during the early decades after the opening of the canal....More

The tour was 90 minutes long which had you go down part of the old Erie Canal. It showed you how a lock works and gave you a narration of the whole process. Very interesting if you like historical facts

The only reason I did not rate a 5 star experience is bc it is a bit cramped and due to being enclosed it’s quite warm. That said the crew was amazing, attentive and humorous. There is beverage service and snacks offered at a reasonable...More

Thank you for your kind review. As a replica packet boat, the Sam Patch can certainly feel less spacious than folks are used to. So glad you enjoyed your trip.

This is definitely worth doing! Right next to Pittsford Dairy, grab some ice cream and travel down the canal! You get to even go through a lock. Such a beautiful river cruise - inexpensive and lots of fun! Great for families!

This excursion was such a disappointment, and the saddest thing is that this boat ride could be so much better if it was managed differently. The boat was extremely crowded!!! I can't say this enough. The tables and plastic folding chairs are so close together...More

Thank you for your review. Sorry you were unable to sit with the rest of your party. A replica boat is not as roomy as many are used to, especially when it is sold out during the high season. Our seating has always been open,...More

We really enjoyed getting out on the water and having a hands on experience of the Erie Canal. The cruise lasts about ninety minutes, and it includes going through a lock, both going up and back down.

Hi Sheri. We don't open until the first week of May when the canal is refilled for navigation. Hope to see you then.

I would assume so, actually very little space is outside of cover, all the seats are under cover.
