My daughter and I hiked 2 days on the 25 miles of trails on the Paul Smith's VIC property. Trails are well marked and extremely well-maintained. They take you around and across a number of different biological features- bogs, ponds, streams, hardwood and pine forests....More

The Vic is a nice place to relax and go at your own pace. There are occasional small concerts here. There are also many different kinds of walks for varying ability levels. Highly recommend.

We did 2 trails which were recommended by the staff of the VIC. Which were the Heron Marsch and the Black pond trail. It was very nice to see the variety of landscapes in a small area. We saw a lot of little animals, like...More

Perfect for a family hike with kids! Only issue was that the Visitor Center was closed. Luckily we found a map left behind and were able to find our way. The bathrooms were clean and accessible, as well as a few outhouses along the way...very...More

Glad you had a chance to come out and enjoy our ski trails Wally. We certainly aren't shy of snow around here. As you continue to explore our system, you will find some challenging slopes. Our front desk volunteers and staff would be happy to...More

In 2016 I submitted a review stating there was poor signage on the trails. A response was posted that the signage was being redesigned and improved every day. They have done a tremendous job! Since that time I have visited the trails twice, for a...More

Thanks for the kudos on our signage. We've revamped our trail map to match what has been on the ground for years, and are pretty confident all of our trails, including service trail junctions are well marked. It was a major undertaking, but certainly needed...More

Hi G S, thanks for the review. We love our trails. It would take a life time to learn all of the flora, fauna, and fungi out here. Come back and watch the seasons change any time you can.

If you only walk the short trails near the VIC building, you’ll find nicely maintained trails. If, however, you look at the trail map provided and want to do one of the longer hikes indicated, you will be disappointed and, maybe, lost, maybe, even, hurt....More

Hi Leca, Sounds like you might not have received a good recommendation on a trail to take. Some of our trail system has recently been developed out of logging roads: Logger's Loop, Skidder, Esker, Fox Run, Little Loop, and the Western portion of the Woods...More

It's amazing what pops out in the spring and summer time, and how a drizzling rain can draw your attention to the ground. The VIC is a biologists delight. Barnum is one of our favorites too, a great introduction to the site and the Adirondack...More

This is absolutely one of the most beautiful places for cross county skiing and worth the drive. There are no crowds and the views are memorable. They also make outstanding maple syrup and you can adopt a tree. A great experience.More

This year our ski season outlasted our maple sugaring! We are pulling taps from our trees today, and there are still feet of snow in the woods. We've seen some great ski days out here this April that the die-hards have enjoyed. We love our...More
