This place is a treasure. We went to the 1863 Thanksgiving Celebration; almost all of the buildings were open and in several they were cooking dinner as in the old days. The houses were nice and warm from the cooking fires and the smells were wonderful. We will return for the Candlelight Evenings in December.

This place does an AMAZINGLY good job for Christmas - it was A+. Now I go to their Haunted extravaganza and WOW! They did a great job, put their hearts into it and the place was decked out for Halloween. A must visit for this holiday and Christmas.

We took two granddaughters ages 4 and 7 and they very much enjoyed the visit. It is a true learning experience to see how we lived so many years ago. The lecture at the schoolhouse was fascinating as were the visits to the general store and the other structures. During our visit they had old time baseball tournaments. Who knew... More

This is a very special place!! They run programs throughout the year (except New Year's through around March). My favorite are the military (Revolutionary and Civil War) regiment reenactments and the Halloween festivities. The Halloween is so creative. It's both spooky and historical, with the authentic buildings becoming "haunted" as they would have been in an 1800's Halloween. I also... More

Went here for the Long Island festival with my 2 year old daughter there was about enough to do with her for an hour or so but for kids about 5 years old or older there's plenty for them to do for a good days fun. Definitely recommend it for Visiting families and locals the same

One of my grandchildren loved the hat making. They both loved the sheep shearing. We all enjoyed the people in period costumes dancing and the old time baseball.

I took my granddaughter 8 and grandson 9 1/2 on a beautiful summer day. When I told them where we were going and what it was all about my grandson did not want to go. He said this sounds like school and history class. To make a long story short, we spent 4 hours there and he did not want... More

Great opportunity for kids and adults to see history before their eyes. Demonstrations in tin making and pottery shouldn't be missed. The general store is fascinating with goods from the 1860s along the walls. The docents were informative and engaging for the kids. Great place for photography and family portraits.

If you every want to go back into time when things were a little bit slow paced go to the Bethpage Village Restoration. It reminded me of the show Little House with Michael Landon. I expected to see Mrs. Olsen in the general store! We went into the school room. Again it took me back to that show. It looked... More

A Long Island right of passage is a field trip to Old Bethpage, which is quite different than going yourself. For a mere $10 pp, we strolled through the Old Village, popping in and out of the houses, stores and other sites and learning about Long Island's heritage, etc. The pastoral settling was bursting with Green and had the sites...
