Nice trip for fall foliage, although it would have been nice to have some elevation change. I had thought this was the train ride I saw long ago on National Geographic Channel, but having taken the trip I don't think it was the same one....More

The train needs a lot of work, they don't have the money..The cars are old..No real crowds on a thursday afternoon in the summer. The ride was nice, scenic, but I've been on nicer train rides.. The volunteers were wonderful.

This is a nostalgic, quant train ride that was enjoyable. These wonderful attractions will be a of the past if we don't support all the efforts that many volunteers put into these types of attractions. The only thing they can do to improve on the...More

We were anticipating more scenery. We saw woods, beaver dams. These are things that are native to our local home area and that we see routinely. The volunteer staff are friendly, entertaining and fun. The ride is disappointing at best, and you are not able...More

Rode to Saranac Lake on the 10:30 train and it was a beautiful peaceful ride, rode in the open car and it was cool and breezy. Takes about 50 minutes and that's just right to take in great blue herons, beavers and ducks and a...More

How long does it take the train to get from Lake Placid to Saranac? I assume that the duration of the trip runs from 10:30am-2:30pm if you are on that train?

I think it was around an hour ride from Lake Placid to Saranac and we had maybe hour to hour 1/2 in Saranac for lunch and shopping.

One of the recommendations from the hotels website that we will be staying at was advertising "the Wine Train". Is this the same ?
