Can hardly see any of Lake Placid, because 90% of it is private. So you just get to see the much smaller Mirror Lake. Lake Placid is a long drive to get to. Spend your time and effort exploring someplace else.

Lake Placid provides holiday homes for the very rich but it's further development is strictly limited. The views of the Hills and the lake itself are amazing. Our group had a private hired boat trip and guide - very good.

Beauttiful walk around the lake, lots of places to stay and places to eat all within easy walking distance of each other. We have visited in summer, fall, and winter and enjoyed it every time.
