Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, NY is absolutely the most beautiful churches I have ever been in. Forty-six different types of marble was used in its construction. Built by the Venerable Father Nelson Baker, 'Padre of the Poor' who is in the process of canonization. Beneath the Basilica is a museum and gift shop. Absolutely amazing!

This Basilica is gorgeous. We just happened upon it. We are so glad we decided to take some time and explore it. We arrived early on a Monday morning. There was a security guard outside. So we parked and walked over and asked if we could go inside. He said, "Yes, you can" - we were so excited. Just seeing... More

Go spend the day, visiting this magnificent basilica; go downstairs to the museum; then outside to view some of the original buildings and natural gas drilling site. After seeing this amazing tribute to Our Lady of Victory, you'll want to save your money - no need to go to Paris . . . . . or Rome, for that matter!

Free: there's a museum to walk through after parking in the parking lot that's actually past the basilica: look for signs! Go in the back door and there you are. Museum has displays of typical orphans' bedrooms, Father Baker's living quarters, clothing, etc. Slide show, if you want to take the time: I did. It helps to understand it all.... More

We stumbled upon this lovely basilica en route to the Buffalo and Erie Botanical Gardens, which are just a few blocks away. After visiting the gardens, we decided to see if the Basilica was open. The massive exterior is awesome, but did not really prepare us for the exquisite beauty of the interior. It is on a par with many... More

There is no way to describe the beauty of this church. The many different and rare marbles used to construct this building is remarkable. Be sure to read the history of this wonderful basilica.

The basilica is magnificent. I was overwhelmed. It is like something from Europe. I never expected to see such an inspiring building in Buffalo. It is free and you can take as much time as you like looking around, sitting, or reading about the construction and history. It is not something that just anyone would like, but if you are... More

We have been visiting this holy place multiple times, maybe once or twice or more a year. This is another favorite place for us to visit. Not too far from Toronto, only 10 minutes from Canada/U.S. border at Fort Erie through the Peace Bridge. The place is like a sanctuary for us. The Basilica was built by Father Nelson Henry... More

My husband and I took an hour tour of Our Lady of Victory Basilica & National Shrine. Our volunteer tour guide Deb was energetic and enthusiastic as she explained the beautiful architecture and history, both inside and out. There is so much symbolic liturgical imagery! The basilica almost takes your breath away, there is so much to take in. A... More
