Went here on a Sunday afternoon. Walked about 7 miles total. Great trails of all different levels. Places to swim. We walked from lake Minnewaska to lake awosting. Wanted to start from Sam's point but parking was full.
Lake Minnewaska in the Catskills is a beaut! The lake itself is tranquil and visually pleasing as far as the eye can see. It has a nice little area for swimming or just relaxing by. The carriage trails are double wide, very suitable for biking...More
First time here visiting with friends and kids. Awesome place. Was looking foreword to see the water clear blue but the water has turn it’s color. We only swam here. We will try hiking next time in the fall. It sure is amazing park to...More
If you Google the address for the Minnewaska State Park Preserve, when you type the address listed into your GPS it brings you right to this. We came from Albany NY area and took exit 18 to get here, my husband took exit 19 to...More
We borrowed an Empire Pass from our library for the weekend. We would not have paid ten dollars to park on such a cloudy day, but were willing to risk getting rained on since we had the pass. It was wonderful to be able to...More
$10/CAR entrance fee. Once you pay, there is no help around that we could find. You have to ask for a map and then the map is very difficult to read. At the minimum, there should be a color coded board that you could refer...More
We were looking for a park to do a quick hike on the way down from a wedding in Lake George, NY. We didn’t want to do anything lengthy, just an easy hike up to 2 hrs. Well this place was perfect! There are a...More
This is a beautiful pristine park that has something for everyone. I highly recommend everyone pack a picnic and explore for the day! I would bring or wear footwear that you can cool off in the clear crisp streams that are bubbling through the trails.

The web site lists the period during which parking fees are collected, although it lists 2017 dates. One would expect that 2018 would be similar. If so, that would mean that currently the fee would be collected starting at 9:00am, continuing up until 8pm, but starting Sept 10, that would become 7pm (and later in the year, 6pm, and then 5pm). It's definitely possible that the attendants might leave some lots earlier, especially after Labor Day, but I haven't been around the park enough to know if that's true, maybe someone else could comment.

I'm not really an expert on Uber/Lyft in the MHV, but I would expect it would be pretty straightforward to get from the train station to the park. Returning is probably also pretty straightforward, but you're probably going to have to wait 20-30 mins for your Uber to arrive, since they're likely going to have to drive out from POK to get you. Whether you go out to the park, or come back, the Uber driver is going to have to do one full round trip, so seems like either way should be about the same "difficulty".
