We went up to Hunter Mountain to ski for a day from New York City. We rented our skis and boots at the rental center - it was quick and easy. The mountain wasn't that busy (as I had consistently read about) for a Saturday and all of the runs were well covered and groomed. Fun for all levels from... More

I went to Hunter for four days in December and had a great time. There wasn't an inch of snow anywhere in the surrounding areas and it was a warm long weekemd and yet they had made enough snow that the mountain wasn't even icy. I've been to many mountains in the Northeast and they by far surprised me with... More

Went to ski with the family. On the mountain early and the smell of marijuana was on most trails the entire day. Skiing down the mountain empty beer cans lined the trails and were scattered in the woods visible from the lifts. To top off the day while loading the car at the drop off area just a few feet... I've skied at Hunter for years. I'm only 45 minutes away so I've had season passes and and "Big Lift Cards". First of all... keep in mind that 75% of the people who ski at Hunter are novices and have no business skiing at the top of the mountain. It was a shame when they added their high speed lift... There has not been much natural snow in a while but they did a great job on making snow. Of course there was some ice but overall the trails were great. They had ample room for us to grab a table and eat our own packed lunch and was a fun time.

Best place to ski near NYC/central NJ. Love the mountain. We go every weekend all winter long. Great place for families.

The was a return visit after a decade. Honestly, we were not terribly impressed after our first experience and would not have returned if not for meeting family. This visit was more enjoyable. The mountain is medium for East Coast skiing, and the surface was a bit icy (there for New Years). Cost reasonable (we worked a discount). Service good.... More

I went snowtubing this past weekend with my four year old and the tubing area was extremely over-crowed (in fact they sold out tickets.) It was so packed in fact that we waited half an hour to get to the top for our first run. 30 minutes waiting during a two hour ticket was not a good start. When we... More

This is by far the best place i have visited till date We started from NJ in the morning and reached there 11 am. The drive itself is good a view to miss specially when you start the hill climb. As it was cold we could see the water freeze on the rocks and form beautiful crystals. Its just too... More

We have been on the chairlift at hunter mountain twice, both in the summertime. The views are magnificent especially on a clear day and watching the brave Zip liners is enough to make one forget their fear of heights. The do allow young children to ride along with parents but make sure you keep a grip on them. This is... More
