What a tranquil place even though it has lots of visitors. Dune 45 is a challenge but try it when the sun is low. We also did a guided walk on the saltpan

This might sound selfish but I wished we could have this place for ourselves just for an hour or two Absolutely magnificent special place but the fact that you have to wait for busses, cars, vans,or other tourist to pass before you could take a photo, was a negative Early morning it looks like a movie teater queing and we asked when... Be sure to park and ride with an experienced driver; it's better than getting stuck in the sand! (Cost: approx. N$150/person)

The park main gate is closed until first sun - that was 6:45 our day. We got in the line of vehicles and the gatekeeper, signs your vehicle up: registration and passengers. Then when the gate is open, DO NOT stop for an park fee payment. That is done upon return to the gate before departure, as they keep the... More

Arrive early as the sun can get got. We were at the gates before they opened (6:45 am) and climbed Dune 45 and visited Deadvlei. Both were stunningly beautify. And the climb was not too hard, provided you get there before it gets hot.The shuttle service was disappointing - after paying we waited 2 hours for return journey, which never... More

there is nothing like the red sand dunes of the Namib desert. Best photographed at low light - i.e. early morning, late afternoon when they turn very red. Several available to climb. Amazing sea of red sands! Fly over them if possible!!

Our group had a spectacular time here. We climbed a sand dune and took a lot of sunset pictures. Some went out for sunrise pics also.

The Park was the reason for our visit to this desert area of Namibia. We weren't disappointed. The terrain, the dunes and the history of this unique land was a highlight of our tour. The climb of Big Mamma was a challenge to say the least but had to give it a try.

This place is simply amazing. If you are in the area then you are obviously planning on visiting and don't need a review to tell you how cool it is! A regular car is fine to visit, just drive to the end of the tarmac, park, and take the shuttle. It's very easy and although we hired a guide, we... More
