The 9:30AM Praslin ferry had a smooth ½ hour sail to La Digue port. Here we made a 5.5 mile walking circuit, passing the Notre Dame de L'Assomption Church to the L’Union Estate Farm. After paying 150 SCR each to enter, we passed the 19th C Cemetery, Copra press, the Monolith tortoise pen & the Vanilla plantation to arrive at this rock strewn soft white sand beach. It reminded us of The Baths in Tortola, both with house sized granite boulders stacked at angles all along a 1/2km beach. Here, instead of pools, there is a 100m+ wide shallow snorkeling reef out to the surf. We enjoyed sitting in the shade of the encroaching forest before departing for the Veuve Nature Reserve. We lunched at the adjacent Gala Takeaway before returning to the 4PM ferry back to Praslin. A lovely daytrip.

It is like a postcard everywhere you look. If you are lucky enough to travel to the Seychelles, you really must visit the island of La Digue and see all the beaches. It is extraordinary!

This beach is stunning - the granite rocky outcrops, the turquoise sparkling waters and silky sand makes for a great beach experience.

Stunningly gorgeous beach. I’ve travelled all over the world and have never seen a beach like this. The best way to enjoy it is to simply wander around, taking in the boulders.

Well worth the Union Estate entrance fee (SCR150 pp), with lots to explore on the estate and clean bathrooms provided as well as beach-side showers.
The beach is huge, separated into sections by trees and granite boulders. Beautiful and sandy, the water is clear, shallow and warm. There are fish to watch even in the shallows - we saw shoals of small fish jumping out of the water as they were chased, and had stunning butterfly fish needlefish swimming around our knees and ankles.
Good snorkelling from the beach too.

Since the beach is part of the Union Estate one has to pay an entrance fee. Having read so many positive comments about this beach, I was rather disappointed, when I got there at low tide. The scenery with the palm trees among many granite boulders is impressive, but the beach itself was very disappointing, especially after having been to Anse Georgette and Anse Lazio on Praslin.
There were greenish flat rocks sticking out of the water for some distance, which meant quite a walk to able to swim. I didn't bother, since even on La Digue I had seen beaches more suitable for a swim. There was one shack selling coconuts and a souvenir stall just by the bridge, after which bicycles are not allowed anymore.
So all I did at the Anse Source d'Argent (silver spring) was to sit on a granite boulder, looking around me and enjoying that typical Seychelles scenery. Then I was thinking about the word 'anse', which in French means a 'small bay' and which I had regularly encountered on islands with a French past, not only in the Indian Ocean, but also in the Caribbean. I also wondered, why the French wouldn't use their word 'baie' and prefer to say 'grand anse', thus 'big small bay'. On Praslin I was staying at Grand Anse and a wonderful swim at Grand Anse beach on Grenada - a couple of years ago - came to my mind.

I was a bit worried about the crowds here so we arrived at 6:30 am and it is definitely worth getting there early! We had the beaches to ourselves for hours and even hiked up through the jungle past the abandoned house. It was beautiful up there on the rocks with great views. Some areas in the ocean are a bit rocky and I definitely recommend carrying your water shoes. One of the most surprising parts I liked was actually right at the entrance! We ran past there early morning but on the way out saw the vast clear water and spent hours in there.
One negative comment which has nothing to do with the beach- I wish Seychelles would ban drones! They are intrusive and noisy and everyone seems to have the horrid things!

Amazing place!
You can arrive there via ferry from Praslin (this is how we went there). We payed 850 rupees for both ways/ 2 persons.
The entry at the natural park (anse sourse d’argent) is around 550 rupees/ 2 persons.
You can rent a bike from where the ferry is stopping and ride until anse sourse as there are around 3 km. The bike rental is 500 rupees per 2 persons.
Usually the situation there is windy around May but the beach is very nice.
Also, there are lots of people on the beach.

It’s beautiful, can’t argue that.
Just be aware that everybody else has heard of this beach too — get there early or prepare to deal with the densest crowds on La Digue. We visited late (4pm) and were still able to find some shade, but it was swarmed with people. It’s still a stunning vista with giant boulders everywhere, but you won’t find peaceful seclusion here.
NB: The high tide will come right up to the shady parts of the beach and basically eliminate the sand, so time your visit a few hours away from high tide if you want to stay for a while.

We on the island for the day so plan to walk to the beach. Do we need to pay admission. Any facilities available for lunch. For umbrella etc?

Yes, there is an entrance fee. Well worth it. The beach is extraordinary with its granite boulders. Not much swimming though as water is covered with algae. No umbrellas for rent: there is a lot of shade from trees. Not much in term of restaurants. If you' re there only for the day, it would be advisable to rent a bike upon arrival, and get a nice picnic before getting there.

Hi All,
We are planning to visit Anse Source sd D'Argent for a full day in Early May, will the beach free of seaweed for a beautiful photos opportunity?
Or any beach in La Digue you recommend that seaweed free and can walk from La Digue Jetty?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,
Alan

Anse Source D’Argent should be seaweed free at that time there are so many different spots that you can go to along that beach for photo opportunities. La Digue is a small island you can pretty much get around the entire island in one day by hiring a bicycle and cycling - it is so easy to get around and there are a few beaches that make beautiful photo opportunities!
I want to do la digue tour from praslin by own..please help me..also suggest me the attraction points.

Hi, La Digue is only 15 minutes by fast ferry from Praslin. Book your boat ticket in advance goes to Cat Cocos Ferry Booking.
Take the first ferry at 7 am and return with the last boat at 5:45 pm. It gives you a full day in La Digue.
When you arrive in La Digue, walk from the jetty to the bicycle rentals, and rent a bike for one day and drive to Anse D'argent, the beautiful beach in the world, located inside L´Union Estate.
The gate is open from 6 am - there's an entrance of 115 rupees. You get a bracelet, which allows you to in and out of the beach anytime.
Walk around the beach take some photographs before the big crowds arrive later in the morning.
After that, drive to Anse Coco and Grand Anse or hoping to other beaches on the island. If you feel tired of biking, go back to Anse D' argent and spend your time on the beach until time of departure again to Praslin.
Enjoy paradise!

Hola, en agosto vamos a La Digue con un bebé de 1 año, he visto que hay la posibilidad de coger una bicicleta con la sillita detrás, sabéis alguno si hay cascos para la bebé o me lo tengo que llevar de casa?
