On our tour of Long Island light houses were were told to see the Fire Island light. We lucked out on a sunny day - but super windy. The parking is a good ways from the light house, but the walkway is well maintained and...More

Here on Long Island, we’ve got some famous lighthouses, but none are as pleasant an experience as Fire Island (I’m looking at you Montauk). The lighthouse is easily accessible from Robert Moses Park Field 5. During the busy season there is a $10 parking fee....More

We have been here twice. Awesome staff. Amazing views. Narrow stairs at top though. I would recommend bringing snacks or lunch and make a whole afternoon of this excursion.

Went on fee-free Black Friday to avoid paying parking fee. 3/4-mile walk from parking lot 5 to lighthouse, but on wooden boardwalk. Fresnel lens is in one building, lighthouse keeper's house is visitor center, exhibits on first and second floor, and gift shop (and entrance...More

This is def a cool place to go with your partner or your family. It's awesome that they allow you to go all the way to the top of the lighthouse climbing 182 steps. I don't think it's a good idea for small kids but...More

I went there with my family. It’s a good place for children. I really like the lighthouse because of the nice scenery. After that I went to the beach. There are the high tides. Be careful for that and prepare the extra clothes.

It was excellent sunny early Fall day. Not long walk from the parking to the Lighthouse area via wild nature... Lighthouse is in very good condition. Quite hard to get to the top but it's worthwhile! Museum's exhibition was good - I knew a lot...More

The entire family enjoyed this experience. The walk to the lighthouse was peaceful and the scenery was just beautiful. $10 to park, Easy, convenient parking. The volunteers were patient with the tons of questions my kids asked, and very informative. A great experience all around

We went to the beach to check out the possible storm surge. There were some big waves rolling in. After a walk along the beach, we went to tour the lighthouse. It is a charming, informative museum with a lovely view....except they were doing repairs...More

Yes, even if they closed the lighthouse accessible, you still can walk around out there. It's a nice peaceful place to visit, just leave before the sky goes dark, It might be dangerous that you can't see the road back.
