More
The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation is dedicated to educating current and future generations about Gage’s work and its power to drive contemporary social change. At the heart of our mission is the story of Matilda Joslyn Gage, a progressive visionary of women’s rights and human liberation and an often unacknowledged leader who, with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, wrote the arguments, inspired the passions, and organized the political action of the 19th century woman suffrage movement in the United States. Unlike traditional historic house museums, the Center is designed to be a place of inspiration and engagement. We encourage visitors to sit on the furniture, play the 19th century piano, and even write on the walls!

My daughters and I loved our time at this museum! The attractive exhibits drew our attention to learn about Gage's life, her fight for women's rights, helping slaves escape, the interesting Haudenosaunee Indians and all about The Wizard of Oz. My daughters got to try...More

The Gage center is one of those museum experiences that touches on several areas. Matilda Gage was a leader in the women's suffrage movement, she offered up her home as a stop on the underground railroad, and she was L. Frank Baum's mother in law....More

This was my second visit but won't be my last. Both times the docents focused on aspects of Gage's life that give her place in history significance. I'm sure there is more to learn. Parking is available on the street and somewhat limited because it...More

Outstanding time here. I learned so much about the Women's Rights Movement. For me, being a feminist, it really meant a lot to me to be able to stand in the exact spot that Gage once stood in while making equal rights into a reality...More

This is a very neat little museum in an extremely quaint neighborhood. They hosted a lovely reception for my group and we enjoyed checking out all of the rooms that had exhibits.

Gage along with Stanton and Anthony wrote the original manifesto of women's movement in Joslyn's home. There is a restored version of a hiding place for the underground RR with the history of civil and women's rights as well as son-in-law Baum's Oz artifacts
