Wouldn't live anywhere else in NYC. We call Rockaway Beach "Nashville North" due to the abundance of excellent musicians / bands of all genres. The boardwalk is the place to be on a summer day / & night.

You can't go wrong at any of the Rockaway beaches. This stretch of beach has a nice family quality to it. Same great water and sand and surf.

A lovely beach with few public facilities (good restrooms and a few fast food restaurants are available, as park lifeguards). Nice sandy dunes and decently clean water when we visited with some fun and safe surf

I love it that time of year down there, but it can be quite desolate if you mind that sort of thing. An hour or so from midtown on the A train.

I love the area near the Dredsurfer Grill on 17th Street. It is relaxing, family friendly and calm. You'll find free parking too.
