The Arnot Art Museum is a landmark jewel of the art world in downtown Elmira, New York. Housed in the 1833 neo-classical Arnot family mansion, it is one of the last remaining private art collections formed in the 19th century still exhibited in its original showcase. Temporary exhibitions highlight various aspects of the collections and include works from museums around the world.

Although not a huge museum, the Arnot has a lovely collection of art. We were greeted warmly at the reception desk and the young lady even spent a few minutes with us, telling us about various pieces in the museum.

One of the great small museums in upstate New York. Arnot often offers great temporary exhibitions but the anchor is the superb permanent collection -- specializes in American Art masters but there's an impressive European selection as well. Not many places this size where you...More
