In what appears to be old working class houses there are now shops,some but not all upscale,bars and restaurants. This is a nice place to visit,day or night, and a complete surprise.

The Gaffer district has a good collection of nice stores and restaurants. We had a fantastic stroll and enjoyed everything we saw.

The Gaffer District is such a wonderful part of Corning, NY! Every restaurant/cafe has incredible food and the shops are great too. I love being able to enjoy locally owned places while on vacation and you certainly get that here. Plus - parking is FREE!...More

Go to their website to get information as you walk around the historical quaint downtown district. It provides into on the history of the buildings.

Great place to relax,shop and eat. The resturants and shops are quaint and unnique. Just 24 miles to Lake Seneca and well worth viasiting Watkins Glen and falls.
