The good: there is a refurbished carousel which is beautiful (although I don't think it's necessary to charge $1 admission per person in addition to museum admission.) We were fortunate to visit a day after 2 baby lambs (less than a day old) were born and they were fun to watch. The bad: while all the buildings were open most... More

We visited the Farmer's Museum on a beautiful spring day with our daughter and grand daughter. It was a Monday and we had the place virtually to ourselves. This allowed our two year old grand daughter the ability to run and explore freely as we strolled the grounds. The buildings and the interpreters were busy with their daily activities and... More

We bought the twofer (Fenimore and Farm) ticket and visited the Farm museum in the afternoon. There are two original buildings and the rest have been moved to the site, reassembled and preserved to depict a farming village; store, school, tavern, church, doctor, printshop, farmhouses, lawyer office, and pharmacy. All of the buildings are really well presented and preserved. Some... More

This was an interesting mix of time outdoors and education in life during the 1800s. You learn about life during the 19th century, from everyone including the blacksmith to the local printer while exploring a functioning farm. There are live animals to visit and enjoy too.

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit. Well maintained, clean, friendly staff who explain pharmacy, blacksmithing, printing etc as it was in the 1840's. The turkeys put on quite a show which had young and old laughing. Beautiful carousel which one can ride for a dollar.

We were in Oneonta for the weekend for a family gathering and 13 of us went to the museum for the afternoon. It provided for a nice, leisurely activity for a group. It was interesting to see all of the old buildings, although I would've liked to have seen more live demonstrations. The demonstrations we did participate in were very... More

We went to the farmers museum a few times and always leave disappointed. Kids seem bored, the Cardiff giant is neat, but for the new generation 'who's PT Barnum" is the refrain. Went to ride the merry go round and had to each pay an extra dollar, really? They need the $ for something like that? Christmas evening candle event was nice...would... More

This was our first vist for the Candlelight Event. Frankly, when I write a review I like to be objective and point out the good and the bad and let you make you're own decisions. This time all I have are good things to say. Well worth the trip, well worth the money and we'll worth braving the cold. And... More
