The name is really a misnomer. It’s not really an “Antiques Row” that you can walk to. There is a cluster of shops together, although when we went in Feb 2024, one had closed permanently and another’s owner was on an extended trip to Australia and therefore closed. So all we were able to visit was Clinton St. Antiques. It was decent with a very friendly owner. She told us about 2 other antique stores about a mile up the street. Treasure Hunt Antiques was chock full of tiny items almost difficult to walk through. Mad Hatter’s was totally worth it and I’d give it a 5 stars on its own! I have been to many, many antique stores and this was hands down the absolute most enjoyable one I have ever been in! Around every corner was another delight. I can’t wait to go back again!

According to the I Love NY website, Antique Row stretches from 19 Clinton Street to 312 Clinton Street. In actuality, it would be more accurate to say there is a cluster of stores at 89-99 Clinton Street (at the traffic light at Mygatt Street) with a few additional stores in either direction: Luke’s Antiques to the east at 19 Clinton Street (corner at Oak Street) and Mad Hatter Antiques and Treasure Hunt to the west at 248 Clinton (next to St. Michael Church) and 300 Clinton (next to St. Michael’s Center), respectively. Apparently, 312 Clinton Street is no longer an antique shop.

I shopped here with some family members during a visit to Binghamton. We went into four of the six stores I mentioned above, and they really represent quite a range of items for sale:

99 Clinton Street Antiques: It has two large rooms. The right side of the store is furniture. To the left is a mixture of knick-knacks, jewelry, pins and buttons, books, toys, pictures, paintings, stemware, baskets, decorations, magazines, ceramics, LPs, and furniture, to name a few items.

Yesteryear Antiques & Collectibles: It’s about one-third the size of 99 Clinton Street Antiques, and it carries more or less the same kinds of items. One of its showpieces was a carousel horse. I ended up buying a vintage Halloween decoration that I remember from when I was a boy in the 1960s. For me, that alone was worth stopping in.

Old, Odd, and Unique: It also had two “rooms” or storefronts, and its collection was much more of a hodge-podge of items: radios, coins, pins and buttons, vintage tools, tins, glass insulators, bottles, ceramics, knives, toys, small appliances, instruments, furniture, statues, and much more. The owner struck me as being a very affable man.

Mad Hatter: It’s a large store heavily geared to furniture (much of which is really nice), but with decorations, accents, and lamps as well. It consists of two floors plus a partial basement of merchandise. The staircase leading up to the second floor is a little narrow. The owner has some kind of air freshener in the place which made the entire store smell very pleasant.

Helpful Things to Know:

1) Some of the merchandise at these stores is constantly changing, so while they may not have what you’re looking for during one visit, the item may surface at another time. Take a business card and check back with them on specific items.

2) There is a parking lot adjacent to 99 Clinton Street Antiques.

3) Google Maps says that 99 Clinton Street Antiques is temporarily closed, and the results for a Google search of Yesteryear Antiques & Collectibles also says it is temporarily closed. Our visit was on Saturday, September 19, 2020, and both of these stores were open.

4) Across the street from the Mad Hatter is a large parking lot for St. Michael’s Church, which is next to the store. Though the parking lot was completely empty when we went, there was a police car hiding in the far corner under the shade of some trees, so we didn’t take a chance parking in lot. Whether or not St. Michael’s allows parking for the Mad Hatter at off-times I cannot say.

5) These stores don’t have quite the size and attraction of the buildings that house dozens of vendors, but I bought something at two of the four stores we visited, and a family member bought something at one of the other two stores we visited. I would say that made our visit worthwhile.

Not really antiques here, mainly just old stuff. Went to all the open stores, Mad Hatter was the best.

Do you like antiques and finding the diamond in the rough? Then this is the place to check out. Walk around, look at the different antique shops, buy something old and unique and take it home. You even get to negotiate, because when you buy and sell in garbage (I'm kidding), there is no set price. A lot of neat stuff fills the stores.

Too bad all but one antique store was closed by 6pm on a Saturday night. Perhaps because the neighborhood seemed a little seedy.
Maybe during the day there's a whole different atmosphere.
If you love antiques, it's looks like a cool place to visit.

There are a few blocks in the old section of Binghamton where some antique stores are scattered about. There are one or two per block, for about 3 short blocks. They are pleasant enough stores with some knick-nacks, but the area is very old and not in the best part of town. I would not want to be shopping there after the sun goes down.

It was neat to explore the shops on Clinton Street! Several close together, then a nice stroll up to Mad Hatter Antiques and Treasure Hunt farther up the street (284 and 300 Clinton St).

You're bound to find what you're looking for...and more...on Antique Row. The stores are jam packed and each specializes in something different. I visited Old, Odd and Unique; Yesteryear and The Mad Hatter. Prepare to spend at least an hour if you go to The Mad Hatter. It contains three levels of eclectic finds from large victorian pieces to circus memorbilia and metal lunch boxes...and everything in between!

Clinton St. Binghamton NY's Antique Row is about a mile long from Front St. to Glenwood Ave. in the city's First Ward. And for the antique seeker, there are about a dozen shops to pique your interests no matter what your favorite antique or collectable. That being said, one should plan to drive not walk because some of the shops are alone and others are grouped; but there is plenty of on street parking as well as a few lots serving several shops. And if you buy something you don't want to carry it far to your car! There are specialty "junque" shops, a couple of consignment group shops, neat boutique like shops, and one unique shop dealing specifically in electronic entertainments (radios, TV's, etc.) Virtually something for everyone or anyone with a wide spectrum of interests. Yes, weekends and end of the week are better times than the first part of the week...but if antiques are your thing, then Antique Row is where you should go!
