I traveled with some family on their boat out to Sore Thumb beach very close (or even part of) Gilgo State Park. The water is clean and the beach is narrow. Good place for fishing and paddle boarding. You can get here via land but...More

It's a private town beach in the ocean with clean white sand. The bayside has boat slips that you can pull up and tie up in. The Gilgo Inn is a small bar on the bayside to grab a drink and watch the sunset.

Gilgo is the place to be for sun, surf, cold beer/cocktails on the bayside at the GBI. All kinds of kinds go to Gilgo. All swim, surf, boogie board, play volleyball, whatever. An awesome vibe here.

as a town resident, you can buy the beach pass, allowing you to enjoy this little gem for free. the Gilgo Beach Inn is an added attraction. Love that place!

Another great long island south shore beach. Perfect white sand, nice surf and great times. Unfortunately like most Long Island beaches it is accessible only to town residents.

Can't always get in to this beach, unless I'm with family/friends that have a Babylon town permit, but I do love it here. So much nicer than the public beaches. Less crowded with more of a local feel.

The nearest decent hotel or motel would be on the mainland, about 20-30 minutes away
