We had driven by the Hacienda on out Trolley tour and Dave, the guide, made us promise to go to the Hacienda. It was a wonderful way to see the beginning of the settlement of Taos. The self-directed walking tour was excellent. Each room was...More

The exhibits within the structure have been improved and illustrate Spanish colonial life very nicely.

This is a little off the beaten path, but well worth it. I believe it was the first home in Taos, but if not, certainly one of the oldest structures there. Enjoyed seeing how they lived.

It is not hard.to imagine a small community using this home. Obviously larger than the normal 1-3 room homes of the locals, this is a much larger 21 room home built by a prosperous business man in 1804. On display, the cooking area, leather working...More

to learn about the history of Taos and of the people who lived there a long time ago. Visit of the hacienda, of many rooms and the 2 patios. Interesting but not essential if you go to visit Taos.

There were no tours available when I went, so you have to read all the information. There are times when things are unclear and it would be nice to ask an expert. The history is amazing and the collection of materials is very interesting.

As the last stop on our tour for a class on the history of the southwest, this historic hacienda provided an excellent example of Spanish colonial life. Several rooms around two courtyards showed various aspects of hacienda living from the chapel to the kitchen to...More

Very interesting. Worth the drive. People were tough to live as they did then. Makes me think what weenies we are with our high tech life, how easy we have it. Don't miss the quit room. Great site.

It was a wonderful experience to see what a real and rather large hacienda was like. It takes about 30 minutes, but you appreciate the life of the families in the area.
