While the water level in the bottomless lakes was very low, my Dad and I were still able to notice the "trick of the eye" created by plants in the lake giving the body of water its bottomless appearance. Easy drive to the lakes. Do...More

I wish I had gone when it was a little cooler but I enjoyed walking the trail. Dog friendly. The main lake had lots of tables and shaded picnic tables. Water available at at least one of the smaller water areas.

Unfortunately the rentals for the paddle boats closes at 3:30 daily:(. The attendant was very apologetic and kind though. Beautiful place.

Here is a place you can go to refresh yourself in those Hot New Mexico days. A unique experience; they aren't actually lake but natural sink holes that have filled with water and that are fed by underground water system.

I've read there are no fire rings, instead there are grills. Does this mean there is no fire allowed? That's kind of part of the fun of camping...sitting around a fire.

They do not allow campfires, use a grill. If you have more questions call (575) 624-6058. If you feel strongly about this put a fire pit in your own back yard, this is for the public use.
Do they have a gift shop?

Sorry, no there are no gift shops there. Across from the UFO museum is a very good one but it has mostly alien items. Your best bet is get as many pictures as you can. Go above the lake to the look out and that is the best... More

Yes they charge, As I recall it was in the neighborhood of $20. Given my wife's need to run an o2 machine we have to be where there is electric, so we generally end up paying more than someone able to dry camp.
