Sadly too misty for an early start but went up at 6am instead. It's the rainy season now so bear in mind the trail could be slippy. Walking boots may be better. Some scrambling/climbing but the view at the top was well worth the effort.

We decided to skip the Sunrise and head up at 9pm instead and was greeted with thick jungles and insects buzzing and rough rocky road and slippery muddy road (well, it's trekking).I love such adventures and always love nature's and God's Creation so every bend...More

We visited for sunrise so we left our hotel at 4am to start climbing for about 1.5 hours. The view is ok only because it really isn’t that high up and the lands around. But the forest vegetation around was beautiful. Worth getting up at...More

My girlfriend and I (25yo) took a tour through our guesthouse (Nachelle Homestay). This trip was a little expensive (215.000 Rp) but when arriving early morning (5am) to watch the sunrise atop the volcano we think such a trip is worthwhile. The road towards the...More

First time to witness an active volcano still billowing smoke. We hike for a short distance and come down because of strong winds and grey sky. Instead we go for hot spring spa.

Not super impressive, but a nice hike and view, and quite some activity (steam, clouds, etc). We did not go for sunrise, but early morning as we did not want to hike 2,5 hours in the dark or drive up to the top. Is cloudy...More

Since the Sinabung volcano is "red zone", this is the only way you can walk to have a panoramic view all around. It's a pity that the path is polluted by plastic bottles and cigarette butt, but it's worth the climbing.

I suggest you to take a tour guide, maybe someone you know around Medan. I don't recommend you to come in December because it's rainy season. If you wan't to visit here, maybe we could help you if we have sparetimes. Free of... More
