Hiking Trails

Hiking trails for the fit and unfit alike, we could take our 4 year old hiking with us without a problem. There is a restaurant on the premises that I can't wait to visit!

Such a gem of a place. Views galore if you want to break away from the rat race. The peace and quite is amazing and is great for picnics on Sundays as well.

This Nature Reserve is within easy reach and very inexpensive. Take a picnic and sit on the lawns or enjoy a walk around the fynbos and enjoy the spectacular views. Look out for the local bok or maybe see a tortoise. There is a coffee shop and also a good information centre. In summer the reserve hosts Sunday evening music... More

Good experience all round. The Nature Reserve offers a wide selection of trails to suit everyone from older age to seriously experienced hikers. Probably best to visit in flower season - it was a bit bare in january. The views down to Somerset west/gordons bay are great!

Absolutely stunning natural reserve, a MUST visit while in this area. Many different trails, one for any level of fitness, the efforts are rewarded by amazing views of the Helderberg basin and all the way to Cape Town and beyond. Only the marks for the trails could be a bit more explanatory....in any case it's great fun!

On the 24th December 2016 I took my 2 adult children to the Nature Reserve and we went prepared to climb the Helderberg Mountain, all the way to West Peak - the highest point. We got to the entrance at 7.30am and after walking the stunning reserve paths we reached Disa Gorge, the beginning of the hectic climb. We got... More

Lovely unspoilt nature reserve. Views from the top are amazing, one can see over towards the Strand, Gordon's Bay and Stellenbosch, even Table Mountain on a clear day. Just be aware that there is little shelter from the sun therefore on a hot day start out early. Various walks are organised here and in season there are Sunday evening concerts... More

Food is usually wholsome and freshly made. Limited menu but well cooked and tasty. Well priced. Basic outdoor/indoor venue with a view of the Helderberg Mountain reserve. Good for breakfast, lunch and teas.
