Walking to gericke point is like going on a brief history class. It's also called lions head as it resembles a lion. You can still find the remnants of the whaling station that was used to slaughter whales. Some holes in the rock where they...More

A lovely place to get away from the rush and to have a walk. A popular place for photographers and is the inspiration of many beautiful paintings

Gerickes is a must when you want to feel one with the ocean. It is a long walk to the point, but worthwhile. Just watch out for the tides. Fishing is great. Swim in the tidal pools

Wonderful place, rich in history, but be cautious of inaccuracy - there never was a whaling station, the remains there are of shacks where fishermen stored their boats. In the early 1960's, people used to walk from Swartvlei parking area or even from Sedgefield to...More

The walk to Gerickes point along the sea is fantastic but be prepared with protection from the sun and drinking water. You will not be disappointed with the view and the actual point's location

Beautiful beach. Be sure to check tides - you cannot walk to the point unless the tide is low. Stunning views with the ocean on one side and steep sandstone “dunes” right off the sand. Lovely pink sunset. Seems a popular sundowner spot.

at low tide there should not be a problem for a 7 year old to do it. (Disclaimer: my 7 year old is now 29 years old!)
