Description:

Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning...

Wild Oats is a local farmers and food market open every Saturday morning until 12 noon. We are located on the western outskirts of Sedgefield at the turnoff to Sedgefield Island. An award winning Garden Route landmark we are not to be confused with the Scarab Craft Market to the far east of Engen Petrol Station or the Mosaic Flea Market across the road from Wild Oats. As a food market, our open times are limited due to the short shelf-life of many of our LOCALLY PRODUCED products which include: Free-range chicken, beef, pork and lamb, free-range eggs, multiple cheese, dairy and baked products including fresh gouda, cheddar, blue-cheeses... milk, fresh fish, fruits, free-range & organic vegetables in season, many traditional and exotic bottled goods, organic olives, berries, rusks, koeksisters, biltong & wors, famous artisan breads, award-winning cheesecakes and goats cheeses... and on and on and on. Also a fabulous range of hot-off-the-grill breakfasts, coffees, teas and fresh-squeeze juices and smoothies. FOOD HEAVEN! Come face-to-face with our local food producers every Saturday morning, come rain or shine.

If I had lived in the garden route, it would be an every Saturday outing. Breakfasts were ready after 7am. Oh my hat the German cakes and sausages are to die for. Lots to buy and taste. The experience is out of this world. Pity Cape Town is so very far from this piece of treasure. You can spend all... More

Well worth the travel each Saturday! Do come early though,as the locals have gotten shopping here down to an art! Bring your largest basket for the fresh fruit, vegetables & all kinds of eats & deli (local and foreign) for the week! Be very sure to come hungry with lots of money - as the choices - are overwhelming! Drink... More

Hi Maritha Bester... Thanks for the lovely review and thoroughly delightful description of Wild Oats. We put the effort into creating a good balance of the best local food & farm producers and are proud to highlight that our value-added marketers all use locally produced inputs as much as possible. Hopefully no "foreign" products or inputs are used ... all... More

What a lovely market to go to with so much to offer. Lovely vibe. It's great to just sit under the trees and watch people and enjoying whatever tasty food you fancy. Fresh...orcanic...plants...just about anything.

Over many years this outing on a Saturday Morning has grown but kept its rustic appeal--the "country folk" and their kids and dogs ,aunties and uncles, congregate to gossip and relax. There is always a band of ethnic musicians to entrance you at the entrance-- live music-- farm produce--super fresh bread--indigenous nursery--many food stalls--and a cheerful :buzz". In fact it,s... The review says it all. Tastes to satisfy anyone's peculiarities... love thd emphasis on recycling and cleanliness. If you into organic... it's the place to go. A truly "must go to" on your trip through the Garden Route.

We spent several hours here and it was a delight. All the stall holders were keen that we sample their produce and the food was first class. The craft market had a diverse range of products all of which were value for money. A really pleasurable way to spend a Saturday morning.

Absolutely love this market! They open early enough for you to pop in on the way back to Cape Town. There is a large variety on offer. The fresh juices are good and the shawarma stall was our fave!

We attended on a damp Saturday and thought this was a very special market with lots of lovely items on offer. Perhaps the weather helped to curtail the market for the day or perhaps the stall holders had sold enough because they packed up quickly and were gone about 12 noon. Therefore I would suggest getting there early to taste... More

No matter how often we go to the market it never disappoints! Delicious cheese and carrot cake from Aidan; Sour Dough bread & ciabatta from the French bakery; wafer thin & superbly light pancakes! Spoilt for choice and makes for a most enjoyable outing.
