Make sure you drive a vehicle with ample height to bridge rocky roads. The road is challenging and it took us a number of hours to travel a very short distance (other than the condition of the road in places, the sharp corners, etc. I...More

What a beautiful, pass but my nerves could not handle doing it ever again 😅 It's fine if you are the only car doing it but when a car comes on from the front and you have to pass each other it's seriously dangerous.

This is a truly memorable experience and due to its out of the way location and difficulty to get to- one that will not likely be repeated. The drive is not as treacherous as we were lead to believe. We made arrangements to leave our...More

I was suggested to take a trip to Die Hel by a friend and it was worth every second. The reserve is really spectacular and humbling. Would suggest it to anyone with a 4x4 or an off road bike.

I always wanted to go to Die Hel and was not disappointed. The journey was definitely worth it. We travelled by bike. The pass, the proteas, it was just worth it over and over! We camped - facilities are very basic, but there’s warm water...More

We visited the area last year and were awed by the scenery of the Swartberg Pass. That paled into insignificance compared to Die Hel! It's not a road for your run of the mill hire car; you need a 4x4 and even then it can...More

The caravan accommodation at Fontein Plaas was disturbing. The caravans all needed to be ignited with a match. Broken windows, cupboards, the main door never closed when you where inside. The gas stove, sink and fridge was there just for show and were filthy. They provided...More

Drove through the beautiful pass and arrived at die Hel midday. the restaurant was quiet and we did not feel extremely welcome. The menu was average and the coffee as well. The town was very interesting.
