Get close to the seals

Very nice little boat trip to the seals. There were plenty of them and they were even trying to get up on the quay side!

My wife and I took a Drumbeat tour to see the Seal Colony which is located on an island just outside Hout Bay. The cost was 85 Rand per person. The staff on the boat were very welcoming and the tour included a commentary on the seal population. The boat trip literally takes you right up close with the seals.... More

We have previously visited Drumbeat Charters on two occasions as a family and loved the trip both times. This time we visited for a trip out to Seal Island with a large group of families with children with varying disabilities. The staff and crew were fantastic in getting 14 wheelchairs on board and ensuring a safe and enjoyable trip out... More

Nice trip but actually very short time on-site to see the seals. You go out with those glass-bottom-boats and having arrived at the island it turns so that no matter where you sit on the boat you have the chance to see the seals. But after no more that 10minutes you already head back to the harbor. The actual glass-bottom... More

Hi Dino I think you may have the wrong boat company, as we don't have a glass bottom. Thank you for taking the time to review us anyway. Kind regards, Emma Drumbeat Charters More

While nothing extra special...this was a great way to get out to see and photograph the seals! It was a clean boat with plenty of outside space and we got up very close the seals. It didn't take long, and the choice is yours whether to stop at the many vendors on the docks.

This was part of a package deal so would say was not a must do thing in cape town. The short cruise takes you to the seal colony and you can also sit on the open deck to enjoy the view. The ride is short but you can enjoy the seals having their time and the vast ocean. Not a... More

We were warned that the sea was rough and we couldn't get near the island to see them. We were promised to see seals though. If you can called seeing the silhouette of a seal's head from 2 km away seeing it then, we saw it. I'm sure the tour is great on a not rough day. So if you... More

Fairly good ride on a clean and well maintained boat to the Seal colony. Our 4 year old who is a fan of Jake the pirate - insisted on role playing throughout the ride. Great fun. Ahoy!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Cape Town. Hout Bay is a gorgeous part of the city and visiting Seal Island is an awesome experience. The Drumbeat boat was in excellent condition and the staff were exceptional.Highly recommend.
