Agriculture and a simple farm lifestyle is at the heart of Boschendal. One of the oldest farms in South Africa, founded 1685, the farm has grown with the passing centuries into a cherished source of wholesome produce, great wines and happy memories.

Set in the Drakenstein Valley surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, lush gardens and vines, the original farmstead complex is now a national monument with a rich and intriguing history of more than 300 years.

Today, Boschendal is a Cape winelands icon and a cherished wine and food destination. Our vineyards and fruit trees have been joined by vegetable gardens and a growing herd of free range, 100% pasture fed Angus cattle reflecting our commitment to serving wholesome farm-to-table food.

Guest accommodation is also a recent addition to the farm with luxurious cottage accommodation ranging from the exclusive and historic Rhodes Cottage built by Sir Herbert Baker to the elegantly restored Werf Cottages.

Cottage guests enjoy access to the entire farm where they can walk and cycle on trails through mountain fynbos, dine under the stars, have picnics and sundowners in exclusive areas, fly-fish in the dams and swim in pristine mountain water.

This was the without doubt the worst wine tasting we've had in South Africa. What a mess! We arrived around 15.30 pm, all tables outside were occupied, inside was nobody. We decided to do the standard tasting for 40 rand for 5 wines. From the start on two of the white wines on the list were not available. We picked... More

the setting could not have been more beautiful, red marquees all lit with fairy lights under ancient oak trees with the surrounding mountains sheltering us from from the wind. At least 50 big bean bags spread around for the children and a very good musician , It it all fell apart very quickly though, as no one seemed to know... More

I found the customer service at Boschendal from the first email communication to the moment we arrived on the farm to our breakfast at the deli to the wine tasting with our awesome server Anushka and lunch after, to be unbelievably attentive, accommodating and friendly.

We enjoyed a picnic in the gardens on a sunny Monday in November. Perfect! Location, weather, food - not forgetting the wines - wonderful experience, hugely enjoyable.

WE were driving in the area and it was very hot, thinking that we will find some cool place to sit and enjoy a small cold lunch we went to the Boschendal Winery. We did not find it cool at all. Overcrowded and very little to choose fro in the Farm Stall - the pastry we chose was good though.... More

Loved the reserve wine collection. Thats all that was appealing to our experience. Upon arrival we waited 25 minutes for assistance and had to get our own wine tasting lists. The waiter did not even provide us with the available pairing and tasting packages and did not elaborate on any wines we tasted. Do think twice before going here if... More

We signed up for the formal picnic. Stunning views and lovely setting. It was on the food front that we were divided. The quantity of food was generous, if not too much, the basket for 2 could have fed 3 quite comfortably, consensus on this in our group. The quality of the food was the challenge. There was something for... More
