Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited the place in March, so there was water and even snow. I really liked the place, especially to see something different after a few days in Beirut. To get there you go through mountain routes with very beautiful views. It is just a few minutes from the Aaqoura lagoons

we visited it in summer, it's a unique view but I don't recommend it in summer because you can't see the waterfall. you have to travel a very long distance to get there on a bad road. The place does not deserve this effort.

The Baatara gorge sinkhole is a waterfall in the Tannourine, Lebanon near Balaa. The waterfall drops 255 metres into the Baatara Pothole, a cave of Jurassic limestone located on the Lebanon Mountain

Elie from Explore Lebanon took us here. Outrageously beautiful waterfall and rock formation. Don’t miss it. The entire Tannourine region is beautiful.

The walk down into the gorge is not the safest of ventures, as some of the stones are slippery even when not wet. Some of the paths close to the gorge do not have handrails which are quite dangerous, so proceed with caution. The waterfall was more like a trickle in August, but it was still a worthwhile visit.

While the touristy lead up to the sinkhole is currently a bit raty, the sinkhole itself was truly spectacular and worth the visit.

The drive to the waterfalls is a very long drive, and our suggestion is to travel and MAKE SURE TO GO IN WINTER AND RAINY SEASON or else there is no water in the falls and sometimes some water trickles.
There is a rope way, which is fantastic and there is a cool joint to refresh. All the way leading from the highway to the gorge is beautiful with valleys/apple farms and grapes farms. some farms have vegetables, which are unbelievable, like tomatoes are as large as a small musk melon. We tasted the most ripest fresh apples of our life.

We drove through dangerous mountain passes that had road works being done most of the way..The people drive like
madmen here they don’t care who has right of way. I just wanted to get back to the sea where I felt much safer.
On top of it the weather was turning bad as it starting pouring.
The roads are not very good, even though goggle maps takes you directly to this waterfall.park where google maps take you half way up, have a beer and lunch at the little cafe this way you get free parking.

The waterfall is not that great without water in summer. So we’ve been told to go during winter when it rains and then it’s suppose to be spectacular.

We had to pay to go in and with only ourselves and one another couple it was a great disappointment.
The liter is shocking to say the least and the place doesn’t look that safe to walk around. Especially the metal fence viewing place over looking the hole.
I told them at the exit that if we have to pay so much to get in here they could at least pick up the liter.
It makes you made that people just don’t care. Especially in Batroun and the other cities of Lebanon there’s liter everywhere.
It’s very very sad................to see.
