Located in Newark's downtown cultural district, The New Jersey Historical Society is a statewide, nonprofit museum, library, and archives. We collect, preserve and interprete New Jersey's rich and intricate history to the broadest possible audience. The Historical Society houses one of the largest collections of New Jersey-related materials in the world.

Museum Hours: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm -- Tuesday - Saturday

Library Hours: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm --Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday

This is a great old museum that is interesting and nicely done. It I s professionally done with changing exhibits. I really recommend visiting and enjoying. It needs more visitors so that its has more revenue to do more. But this is worth the visit. Near njpac

This is a highly educated group of strong individuals with great interest in preserving the history and records of New Jersey and Newark. The present lectures which detail the history. Its very small and doesnt really have much.I think the Newark Museum is a better option if you are looking for things to see.

There were just a few statues and a few cannons. There were also a few homeless folks foaming in the park. Not much to see here, move along....
