Excellent programs, beautiful grounds, fun events. The manor house could use some TLC but the facade is stunning. Guests will only want to visit the gardens anyway, which are free and open most days.

I attended a book and author presentation here a while ago. The setting was just delightful. Afterwards, we were able to stroll around the magnificent gardens and just enjoy the beautifully kept yet very natural setting. It's not a "destination" site unless you are looking for a peaceful, quiet and natural outdoor setting. But it's great for a small event.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are always well maintained. You can sit on a bench beneath a tree and feel the air around you change; you just feel at peace. If you need to mediate, you should definitely go there. Beautiful place. Beautiful grounds.

I've lived 5 minutes from this place for 18 years and finally visited and what a treat. We saw monarch butterflies going into the chrysalises. The gardens are lovely and very peaceful. There is wildlife everywhere. Sign up for email alerts to hear about events.

We stopped here to visit the 'free' gardens. They were absolutely lovely; there were some interesting plantings, a butterfly garden plus more. Unfortunately the wisteria was not in bloom but you could imagine how beautiful it would be. There is a small parking lot inside the gardens but we chose to park on the road. We did this so we... One square block in the middle of town with gardens. Wonderful old wisteria. Lots of seasonal planting seeds.

Former estate of prominent local boo-pahs. Gardens are in a woodland setting that is enchanting, with semi-hidden paths and glens. Wonderful plantings of ferns and flowering spring bulbs. Huge wisteria around back veranda in something to see in spring. The inside is, I believe, only open for special events and is not particularly impressive. Annual Bastille Day festivities are very... Van Vleck is a beautiful place to stroll and take a leisurely walk. The gardens offer interest all year long. And they are free! Mother's garden is more formal and has beautiful trees; the formal garden behind the manor house is filled with flowers and you can admire the ancient wisteria vines growing up the columns of the house. The... More
