You can easily park here for $7 your car and leave it for entire day. In the meantime you can get a boat to the Statue of Liberty than from there to New York and than back ferry to New Jersey. Great way to visit...More

There is a fairly large pay parking lot on the right as you enter the park. I am not aware of a nearby hotel. Maybe your friend misunderstood and thought you were leaving from NYC.

Took the ferry two weeks ago. The time is the ferry ride from NJ. Arrive 30 mins early, park and walk 5 mins to center. Pickup tickets, better still print at home. Walk 10 mins to jetty and security lines. Short wait times... More
