Walt Whitman's grave is definitely a pilgrimage site. We were lucky and encountered another Whitman fan visiting from Seattle, reading aloud on Solstice Day. The entire cemetery is beautiful & historic, so it's worth walking around. Not too far from Whitman's tomb is the grave of noted Haiku poet, Nick Virgilio. You can easily get there on public transit from... More

This location might seem a little dangerous because of it's location in Camden. However, the spot was amazing. The view was amazing and it's a great spot to take photos. If you haven't seen it yet I suggest that you do. This cemetery is much more beautiful than the fear of the town. It was very amazing.

It is set back in the recesses of the cemetery. There are Whitman "readings" and different times. A very old historic mausoleum

If you're in the area, and are into writer homes or a fan of Walt Whitman, so on in to check it out. There isn't a whole lot to the stop. But it's interesting and history.

A necessary stop for Walt Whitman fans. We went during Poetry Month and took turns reading poetry out loud and left him flowers. (Yea, I know. We're geeks.) The cemetery is beautiful and well worth walking about. The groundskeepers freaked the kids out a bit by sternly warning them to stay away from the edge of the lake (we were... More

For any poetry buff this is a great place to visit almost a pilgrimage. City of Camden is frequently considered to be at the bottom of the list of touristy cities but this cemetery and the tomb make your effort worthwhile. Whitman's tomb will remind you the European tradition of beautiful tombs and this amazing cemetary has a few such... More
