Absolutely biased for this delightful community...favorite for coffee, shopping, incredible dining, walks to the waterfront, yoga, music, even handmade treats for your beloved doggies...

Lovely area for shopping, some food, history and the charm of New England. Brick streets and the character of an upscale seaside town. Interesting boutiques, an antique store, cafes, and some history. Lovely people warm the square. Worth the stop for an hour, a day, a weekend. If you are like me you will want to return for more time... More

Just take a nice stroll at night. It's lovely, historical, colonial and warm. They have a red brick road in that old area, so easy to know you are in the Market Square

So many bars, restaurants and cute little shops in the Market Square area of Portsmouth. Had a great time exploring even though it was the dead of winter and giant piles of snow were everywhere. Love Portsmouth and can't wait to return in summer at some point!

The confluence of all the streets leading into town. Shops, restaurants, coffee and a pretty square with benches to people watch. Great summer spot to hear some music during their concert series, the gateway to all downtown has to offer.

It's the best place to people watch in the city With side walk coffee shops it has a very European feeling. Not much has changed since I was a youngster. There's still a bus stop in front of Starbucks, which was once Green's Drug store. The old North Church is still the center of attention. Protests take place occasionally. An Irish... More

Hi, I have a four young adults in the house right now who use words like "sketchy" and "sweet." They sometimes slip up and call me "dude" instead of mom. The plane of intersecting interests, therefore, is narrow and tends to involve food and unconventional shops. A few weeks ago, we spent a great 2 plus hours walking about Market... More
