We really wanted to go camping in the fall, and Pawtuckaway is one of the few places in New England that are open late (we camped in early October). We drove up from Connecticut and were so, so happy with our choice. When we arrived, the main center checked us in - we had online reservations for a specific site,... More

I belong to a hiking group that hikes every other Monday, October thru April. I've been hiking for 5 years with this group. I find it energizing, physically & mentally as well as the social interaction is awesome. Two weeks ago we hiked the loop between North & South mountain a total of 6 miles. so i am not an outdoorsman but have hiked the Lake District in England and several tramps in NZ....this was beautiful. My only complaint and this was echoed by the more experienced people I was with was that the trails were poorly marked. Weren't sure where we were going; often lost blazes; some blazes seemed to change in the middle... More

Incredible hiking experiences in these woodlands, ... Hugh boulders and exceptional rock formations throughout the park.Glacial erratic 30-40 feet in height, if you like to boulder or just watch others, this is the mecca for it. "Warning, spring time the black flies and other hungry insects are vicious."

Loved this park from what we saw of it. We were renting a home that backed up to the park and spent a day at the beach there. Great relaxing atmosphere. Large spread out swim area with spots of shade or sun on the sand. Picnic tables throughout the trees surrounding the beach. Nice walking paths. Beautiful playground for the... More

Spent Labor Day weekend here. Camp Site 158 on Big Island. This was a great site set back from road and nestled in the woods. It would not have been as private if site 159 had been occupied. There was a lot of trash on ground from previous campers. Wish I had brought a rake. Bathroom just down the road... More

We rented the park pavilion for a reunion of 90+ men, women and children. With the beach near by this should be great. One week before we go they email us and say they need everyone's make, model and plate number. This was a pain to do at the last minute. (They did not use the info after all) I... More

I have started hiking recently and I loved to hike on of the Pawtuckaway State Park Firetower trail which is almost 4.8 miles round trip. The trail is not that tough , it starts with flat soil road which is quiet easy to walk and then the trail turns a bit difficult with some of the rocky routes. However, I... More
