We cross country skiied for the first time this March at Windblown and loved it. We skiied the easier trails, which were well groomed everywhere. We were able to see a gorgeous view of the mountains while staying on relatively easy trails, which was a real bonus for us. The lodge is comfortable with homemade soup, honor system, and fires... This well established, family owned cross country and snowshoeing destination will not disappoint! From the very specific directions on their website (make sure to read these!) to the well maintained trails, friendly employees, reasonable prices and the FANTASTIC food, this place will have you planning your next visit before you leave. I have some cross country skiing experience but my... More

Windblown is a family-owned and -operated cross country ski area that takes full advantage of its hilly geography in southern NH, just 1¼ hours from Boston. It seems to get more and better snow by being further north and at a higher elevation compared to closer areas. There is a variety of trails (25 miles total) through forested acres with... More

I read other reviews and agree - this place is great. As an experienced cross country skier, I'd like to add that the trail groomer knows what he is doing. The classic tracks end where they are supposed to end. When you get in a track, even as you are speeding down a hill and/or coming to a turn, rest... More

Our family skied here for the first time yesterday. The trails were terrific but what really impressed us were the amenities both on and off the trails. The lodge was warm and comfortable with two stoves, a lot of seating, good food, "real" bathrooms and a place to fill water bottles. On the trails there were many open shelters, out... More

I love this little jem of ski area, if you love old school, you don't want to skip by this place. It is about an hour and half from most Boston locations, and it is a world away. Nice little warming hut, and you can even bring a picnic lunch to enjoy!

This is my favorite place to cross country ski as a day trip from Boston. Most of the trails are nicely groomed so the park is well suited for skate and classic skiers. With classic skis you can also explore some of the snowshoeing trails, which are nearly always untouched, to play in fresh powder. A day pass is reasonably... More

I have been to Windblown twice now, once March 2015 & once this past weekend (February 6, 2016). Many of the trails we've chosen seemed fairly challenging for an intermediate skier such as myself as I felt I was 'hiking' uphill a lot. We chose to start on the outer trail which begins as long gentle downhill slope, so you... More

It is an OK place, a bit too much logging for my taste if you are looking to get out too enjoy nature.
