Great place for a quiet picnic and kayaking

Have enjoyed visiting for picnics, hiking around the lake, and there is a decent dirt trail for mountain bikes. Very pretty place.

The lake provides pleasant views from the rail trail that runs along the northern shore (parking available just south of the Massabesic traffic circle). Breezes over the lake can mean pleasant walks nearby on hot summer days. No swimming is allowed in the lake since it serves as a public water supply for the city of Manchester. There's plenty of... I love to go to the lake. What a beautiful place to walk. There is a boat ramp there too. Have kayaked many times. If you like to just sit in your car and look at the lake it's good but why sit in the car. There are benches and picnic tables too.

I kayak on Lake Massabesic and it's beautiful and you can always find a private place to just sit and listen to wind through the trees, the waves lapping the shore and forget about everything else. Just remember it is a reservoir so no exposed feet or swimming if you want the lake patrol to leave you alone. It is... More

Right within the city of Manchester, Massabesic is the drinking water supply for the city -so no swimming unless your a Loon! Great place to view wildlife such as Loons and an Eagle. Water can get choppy in the wind and watch out for wakes from the boats.

I went ice fishing with friends on Massabesic last Sunday and had a wonderful time. I caught a nice Brown Trout and one of the girls caught a very nice Rainbow Trout. On past trips in my small boat in the Summer, much of the lake gives you a distinct feeling of northern Maine - spectacular indeed! On a negative... More

Great place for boating. Picturesque, serene waterfront surrounding the lake. Absolutely no swimming - public water supply

Beautiful Lake Massabesic. You can enjoy the nature trails that are located all around the lake or have a picnic. There are many beautiful spots to enjoy. We like hiking to batterypoint and enjoying the views of the lake.

It really doesn't matter the season...Massabesic is always a gorgeous place to get away and enjoy nature. The trails are easy and have beautiful views. Walking dogs is a joy, most people do keep them leashed. People are friendly. You can kayak to areas with no big boats. The only drawback is that it's a water supply, so no swimming.... More

Sad to say that the water was so clear you could see what people threw in the lake but you also could see fish and enjoy the quite tranquil atmosphere. We would take a picnic lunch and just enjoy the day.
