We had stayed at the Colony B&B, noted the name similarity so booked on over. This was also a home owned by a mill owner, Horatio, cousin to Horatio who lived in our B & B. Docent was EXCEPTIONAL in relating the history of the families who lived there, their renovations and acquisitions as they related to US history &... More

A very knowledgeable docent showed two of us around and answered many questions. There was so much to see, and left much as the last owner left it when he passed on. The house is lovingly maintained and well cared for. I hope it lasts into the future.

Although I have lived within 30 miles of Keene and the Horatio Colony House for over 15 years, it was only today that my husband and I took the tour. We are very glad we did -- this house is a treasure! Built in 1806, one extended family lived in it for many years, with the last family member dying... More

Went for the tour with family from out of town. Nice house, well laid out with items of the period and presented by wonderful caring staff. A museum of the 1940's in Keene is not all thou out of the ordinary for me since i live nearby and likely take things for granted. Nice day out though.

I went there on a field trip for a book and learned a lot. Glad I went, unforgettable! It is also very well preserved.

On the face of it, this is an attractive historic site in a great New England town. The tour guide/executive director was knowledgeable and engaging, and, for the most part, the building itself and some of the collections have some interest. But, in the end, this is one of those historic sites that makes one wonder "Why do they bother?"... More

We were given a personal tour from Anita Carroll -Weldon the museum director. The content was historical, engaging and educational. Each room of the house provided a new experience based on the character of the artifacts. The director was knowledgeable and willing to answer each and every question with thoughtful details. This museum is a gem and worth a visit!

My husband and I had a private, free tour of this amazing home. Horatio Colony was a wealthy man who left his home to the town as a museum. It is chock full of eclectic furnishings and bibelots and so worth a visit. Fantastic!!!!

This little museum and the 25-minute tour provided are both perfectly curated -- not too much, not too little.

I came across the home taking a walk in downtown Keene. The house is gorgeous, the furnishings are beautiful and the tour was 1-1 and very informative. There are many gorgeous antiques in this historic home and the tour is free. I highly recommend the tour to anyone who wants to get a taste of old New England living.
