Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a fun and enlightening place for everyone to enjoy. Here at the Science Center, we house and exhibit many different wild animals, including river otters, mountain lions, bobcats, deer, bears, birds, foxes, and skunks. The wild animals at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center are ambassadors of their species, here for the purpose of educating our visitors about New Hampshire's natural world. Most are orphaned, injured, or otherwise unable to survive in the wild. Observing these animals up-close, together with experiencing our hands-on exhibits, offers visitors the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of our native wildlife and appreciation of the natural world.

Went on Labor Day weekend; all boats were booked Saturday, so we reserved and returned Sunday. Glad we did. These are long, low pontoon boats with shade overhead – easy to board and comfortable once there. I would think a wheelchair would roll on, though there were none aboard this trip. We saw On Golden Pond highlights, lots of loons,... More

I generally avoid places that keep animals in captivity. It was heart breaking watching the bears in their small enclosure. One of them was so anxious, pacing back and forth. Everyone watching felt so badly about the situation. Same for all of the animals. There are two huge beautiful bald eagles in a very small enclosure. Same for mountain lions,... More

First of all, you must sit on the starboard (right) side of the boat. Every point of interest was off the left side of the boat. It was a nice ride around Squam Lake but definitely not for kids (too boring) and predominantly for fans of the movie, "On Golden Pond." Most of the tour centered around where various parts... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your feedback. Our cruises try to focus on the natural history, wildlife, and pristine natural beauty that make Squam Lake so special. It is much less developed and a lot quieter than its neighbor, Lake Winnipesaukee, making it a prime location for seeing wildlife like loons and bald... More

Took our two granddaughters for a visit here and expected to spend a few hours. Well, we stayed all day! The exhibits were fascinating and the new eco-playground is wonderful! Even caught a live porcupine talk at the end. Can't wait to go back!

My parents brought me here when I was a kid--one of their favorite places to visit in NH. I always enjoyed it then. I have been coming here with my kids for years, and they love it too. What strikes me are the improvements the Science Center keeps making. Our whole family was blown way by the outdoor adventure "playground"... More

My husband and I spent the afternoon at the science center. When we first got there they were having a talk on beavers which was very informative. We walked all around the center and were really impressed with the enclosures and facilities for the animals, most of which could not live in the wild on their own. We enjoyed walking... More

Beautiful location with great, hands on exhibits for kids. Learned lots about New Hampshire animals such as big cats (mountain lions, bobcats), raptors (owls, hawks, bald eagles), otters, deer and much more. The kids area was terrific - a new wooden, outdoor playground lets you scurry about like a red squirrel, which both kids and adults alike enjoyed.
