Absolutely amazing whitewater kayaking river in the middle of the wilderness! Went during an 1800 cfs release and loved the big waves and crazy fun rapids plus has one of the best surfing waves ever!

Went white water rafting with a local outfit. The experience was more thrilling than anticipated and definitely recommend to people looking for that rush. June is a great time to go because the river has more water that during the height of Summer.

This river is most associated with whitewater rafting, but if you camp on one of the remote sites on the northeastern shore of Lake Umbagog, you can paddle over and explore the first mile or two of serene and beautiful river before you start getting to the rapids, which are traveling against you. Great trip from pond in the river down to Lake Umbagog. For those whom seek interest of the area, while rafting just might get a glimpse of where the book " We took to the woods was written. My kind of vacation.
