We turned up here on our drive through New England. They have a cog railway to take you to the top of Mount Washington but we were told he would need to wait at least an hour and that we would be charged $69 each for the pleasure! The train takes about an hour to go up and about 40... More

We were very lucky!!! The day was perfect and the fall leaves were at peak. The trains are fun and in lots of different colors. The operators, conductors, etc were all very entertaining and helpful. The ride was wonderful. The difference in the weather from bottom to the top amazing but we were warned of it so we dressed appropriately,... More

Because of the winds the day we went there, we could only go 3/4 of the way to the top. There was quite a bit of fog on the way up, but the clouds moved away, so we had better views on the way back down. There was already a few inches on the ground on the way up there... More

Booked months ago. Took our chances with weather. Got there and were informed weather permitted only 1/2 way up trip on the railway with a 1/2 cost refund or we could rebook. We chouse to go with trepidations. Guide was good. We got to 1/2 way mark and had to go back because of snow and ice. Not their fault.... More

It was a semi-cold day at the base of the Cog, but it was freezing when we got to the top!! The fog made for low visibility and it was hailing a bit, but the ride up was beautiful and the ride down was even more beautiful. The leaves were changing so the colors were beautiful. Took a ton of... More

Due to high winds, we didn't make it to the top. Call before you go to see if it is running. The day we were there the winds were 93 mph gusting to 104, temp 14 with -20 wind chill, 4" of snow. The guide gave us lots of history and it was fun.

Train ride is about 40 minutes up and same down with about an hour at the top When we went it was sunny at the bottom but we went through cloud which turned freezing and at the weather observatory it was really cold. Obviously view is weather dependent and layers of clothing is a must given temperature changes. If you... More

Easy to find, easy to part with cash but then it does cost a lot of money to run. Folks running it where fine and cheerful and the guard was well able to make us laugh. I found the ride squashed( really must slim more) and little chance to photograph to much on the way up or down...as is expected... More

The train ride was amazing however when we arrived at the top it was very wet and windy. Too many clouds making it difficult to see the views.

As noted in other reviews, this is expensive. It was interesting. The "conductor" or "brakeman" for the car had a lot of nice details and history to share as we road up. The views were good 2/3 of the way then the upper 1/3 was clouds and fog - which is normal about 80% of time. The museum at the... More
