We stopped by here during our visit to Virginia City. To access the museum you enter a gift shop, fork over your ducats, (believe it was $6) and are let past a chain to go downstairs in the large one room museum. This room was the pressroom during the time that Mark Twain worked at the Territorial Enterprise paper. There... More

We really wanted to go here. It just so happened that we arrived on a Friday and I downloaded some Virginia City app on my phone which offered FREE access to museums on the first Friday of each month. We got a pass at the visitor's center and then the proprietor of the museum proceeded to lecture us on how... More

As you will see, if my photos are published, the Mark Twain Museum has one big issue. Very narrow and very steep stairs leading down to the museum proper. So it is not for everyone in my humble opinion. That being said I enjoyed looking the museum over while my wife waited out front and people watched.

Hidden inside a gift shop, it's a very nice comprehensive museum for Mark Twain and his association with the city and things he's written and said. Lots of good history on his life and works.

Although a small museum, the information you receive is well worth the couple bucks getting in. We especially enjoyed seeing the old pictures of miners and the equipment they used.

Any Mark Twain fan should make an effort to get here. There are many equipment exhibits and interesting memorabilia. His big desk is the next restoration project, supposedly. The old newspapers have many stories to tell, if only we could read more than just a bit here and there.

Not only was the employee behind the counter rude, slow, and obnoxious, the attraction itself was not worth the time or money I paid for it. Worst part of my trip.

Wonderful old printing presses in the basement. The entire area has wonderful old antiques am pretty sure not much has changed since Mr Clemons worked there.

My husband writes for a newspaper so we were interested in checking out the museum. It was interesting seeing Mark Twain's desk, the toilet he used, and old newspapers from years ago.
