The NMA, Nevada's only accredited museum, is a treasure of Reno! Current exhibit of Miradas, Mexican Art and Maynard Dixon illuminating. Chez Louie, the cafe on site is the best lunch in town!

While not a "destination" museum, this small gem in Reno is a very nice side-trip when one has some time for art rather than gaming. Professionally managed and properly funded, one should not be disappointed with the collection and frequent special shows.

We've been to this museum on three times in 12 months and each time we've fallen more in love it. It may not be the largest museum but they make up for the small size by frequently updating their exhibits so every time we go we are treated to something new. I've found each exhibit is interesting and well curated... More

Enough cannot be said for all this museum has to offer the community and the schools in the surrounding area. The field trips are life-changing experiences for students previously unable to attend cultural activities, the Educator Evenings are a delightful way to complete in-service credits, and the other events and art classes are varying and offer something for everyone. Highly... More

Small-ish cities in lightly populated states usually don't have much to offer for fine arts. Reno's Nevada Museum of Art provides the perfect exception. The two major shows when we were there were both first rate and very relevant to the Nevada and desert context. The permanent collection seems great. The building is gorgeous. We didn't try the restaurant, but... More

I was unpleasantly surprised with the lack of interesting pieces. USA Today said this museum was the top ten in the country. If this is so then our country is hurting. One area of the museum had alien depiction drawings, WHY? What a waste of space. The curator could learn much by visiting the New Orleans museum of Art or... More

Visited for the first time last week. The building is a piece of art itself. Displays are interesting and they have quite a few programs for children and adults. Definitely worth a visit!

The museum has a breakfast service on Sunday, with light music. After breakfast you can pay to tour the current exhibit, it is a nice thing to do on a Sunday afternoon.

We have been members at the museum for years and it never gets old for my husband to steal me away from work for the afternoon to go to the museum. There have been times on a snowy mid-week day that we are the only ones in the place. LOVE IT!
