Native American co-worker introduced me to the Reservation, Paiute culture, and this museum - where her mother works. It was unique and fascinating experience! The museum includes history, artifacts, film, and small gift shop. Recommend to anyone visiting the Pyramid Lake area (free admission).

Our first trip to Pyramid Lake, recommended by a friend. The museum is small but very informative with ancient and contemporary artifacts, photographs, several videos, and a gift shop, We especially liked the totem pole for veterans with each war, from the early Indian Wars, to today, presented by colors. Veterans from the tribe were honored by dog tags with... More

There is lots of interesting Native American history and artifacts displayed here. Some handmade items are for sale made by the Paiute Indians. We enjoyed stopping!

Lots of interesting Indian history here, so if you're into that sort of thing, you'll probably like this smaller sized museum. You can't miss it if you're on your way to Pyramid Lake.

Located about 50 miles north of Reno (1 hour driving time). Take I-80 East to exit 43, then NE entering Wadsworth town, and left onto Nevada Highway 447 into Nixon, Nevada. The Visitor Center is near the intersection of Nevada 447 and 446. The Center is free, and open between 10 am and 4:30 pm. It covers Paiute (Numu) Culture,... More

I recommend stopping by to get a little taste of Pyramid Lake Paiute culture. They have a scavenger hunt where you can learn a little Paiute along the way. Excellent place to stop and visit, go see Big Foot and Little Foot in the backyard keeping watch over the museum!

We very much enjoyed visiting the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Museum and Visitor Center. This museum had a good variety of Native American items, baskets, and amazing art work. It was so interesting to learn more about the Paiute tribe. The architecture of the visitor center is circular. The architecture of the building is beautiful. The staff here was so... More

The museum building is striking with creative and appropriate architecture. The speaker engaged for our trip was an elder who spoke on point for the better part of an hour then started to ramble. We learned some of the history of the area and the Paiute people; most impressively what was being done to preserve the Paiute language. The displays... More
